Minor error in Mask Priviliges

Post by NLSP on 2014-02-03, 19:59

Dear director's,
currently it is not possible for Honorary Foreigners to see the voting part of congress.
Could this be corrected?
Thx in advance,

between a debate and a vote there is a big difference.
BTW do you remember your case where you asked to see the voting about you keeping your mask? voting is private was the answer.
Sorry to say this(and I have nothing against those people) but if you want to see everything, you should have stayed in the country.
If this continues those with a mask will have more privileges than those have Citizenship.

iirc, former Friends of Congress did have the ability to see this section, or at least they should have been able to see it.

There is a double reason why I requested this.
1) it follows from the law http://www.erepbelgium.com/t10054-honorable-foreigner-and-honorary-citizen-law
"Honorable Foreigners will have access to the same parts of the eBelgian forum as normal citizens."

2) Many laws in our lawbook do not refer to the discussion, but only to the voting of the law. However, the voting of the law, refers to the discussion. It is quite difficult sometimes to find back the discussion from the law, when there is no direct link (since topic titles are not required to be identical, and law proposal sometimes differ greatly from the initial post/initial topic). It makes it much easier to find back the debates Smile

boer jan wrote:do you remember your case where you asked to see the voting about you keeping your mask?
Addition and removal from FoC has been done partially in a private forum that is not public for 'ordinary citizens', this is not a request to open up this private forum, but just to adjust the viewing rights of the normal congress vote area, based on the law.

Indeed, FoC did always have viewing rights in the voting area of Congress, just as ordinary citizens do and always have done. If the law stipulates the same forum privileges as ordinary citizens, it does indeed include viewing rights for the voting section, but not, as NLSP points out, for the private area.

Than this whole law is wrong, Honorary Foreigners is there out of respect for those people and to let them participate, not to let them continue to rule the country, cause this is happening, leaving us with empty hands and still wanna keep the strings in hands while it all was too much before?

It should be fixed(reading rights only, just like citizen mask)

Let us know if you think you found another mistake.

I think you misunderstand, they wont be able to vote just view the forums.
Just like normal citizens can read the voting forum and who also can't vote.

What we have here is a simple case of misunderstandings and an oversight on my part when i was setting up this mask.

I am not sure if i overlooked something else(as far as i can see it is correct now), but do tell us here when you do find something out of place. Wink

I don't have any intention to rule the country. Being able to see the vote, give me the opportunity to participate. I try to make a habbit out of informing myself when participating to a discussion and this view right is therefore very useful.

I can understand that you would want to keep viewing rights of votes restricted to citizens, in order to prevent outsiders to pressure current legislators in their voting. However know that this is ineffective since there will be enough people willing to spill the results (unfortunately) and it has adverse effects (see my previous post about finding the debate related to a law).

The citizens mask is in order(no problem).
The HoF mask was still missing some permissions.
It should be corrected now.

I still see no posts at all in the section 'embassies'

Maybe you can use one of the 'dummy' accounts that the admins have been using to test if all settings are correct ?

This is what you should see:
Notice that the section is locked and only it's sub-sections and the 2 sticky's are accessable.
This is how it is.

Yesterday i changed the settings to the correct set.
Just moments ago i checked those settings again and they where changed again, yet no-one else has altered them. :/

Anyway, i corrected it again.
Please try once more.
