On the issue of a merger, how would you vote?

I totally agree. Plus it happened once before and it did not work out that well. I think the best thing for Belgium is to stay put work on keeping all PTO out and making sure our regions and government stays. Also try to get a baby boom.

If I were still eBelgian, I would be accusing anyone who seriously suggested a "merger" with the UK of high treason... or at the very least a serious learning disability. You know damn well that a "merger" would be tantamount to voluntary subjugation - and by the one country in this game that could not possibly deserve your patronage less.

...unless of course your secret plan is to "merge" with the UK so that you can carry out some sort of subversion operation or TO scheme from the inside - in which case you are all strategic geniuses and gods among men in this game. Twisted Evil

stilpo, I just as much against the invasion of eIreland as you are (you can check my rants on the eUK forum), but from rational point of view, a merger with eUK is the best that could happen to us.

And then I mean on military, economically and social field.

Shadow, that may be true but eUK and eBelgians, some of them, do not get a long. Like MorosMyrdinn for example. Why not just stay independent. It is the second best or maybe the best thing in the long run.

You of all people should know we are here for what is best for eBelgium.

This isn't about Ireland, shadow. Its about the eUK having a long history of being one of the least reliable friends and allies in this entire game. Its about the overwhelming arrogance and narcissism of many eUK citizens and leaders who would never see a merger agreement with a smaller neighbor as anything other than a form of domination. Its about reality.

I've seen the contrary with my own eyes. eUK and eBE have merged before in the past. It worked p good.

You do need good agreements ofcourse.

maybe a other plan,
why don't we start a sort of eEU with eNL.

in history belgium and the netherlands (and lux) started the EU. it was a small step then...

other small countries could join us later.

the biggest diferent with the EU and the eEU would be that the eEU should be a new coutry and not something above existing counties. a new flag !

sorry about my english and type errors, but i'm at work now, and posting from my cellphone

I do not know Moros. I would have to hear more about this before I could give my idea about it.

That's the ATO plan Moros ^^.

The advantage of merging with NL is to rise the size of the whole community. Then further rise could be done.

The only problem is that we would have a lot of Resistance Wars, and it might be hard to resist to all ^^.

If you want merge, then you must see if they want too.
If they don't want, it's an invasion not a merge.

With uk, for me, it's impossible.

I want eBelgium to remain eBelgium. No merge with anyone.

Conquering that's something else.

A European Union would be great and a major world power - there's just the game rules that don't really permit this... maybe if other countries would want to be voluntarily conquered by us? But still it would be difficult to realise because of unpredictable foreign nationalists and RW's. Also, with our free speech culture, could we just add (maybe tens of) other national languages, and keep English as the only official language? I also think about it regularly... but i believe that for the moment, our best bet is to stay sovereign and in possession of our OT. This is a huge accomplishment already imo.

You obviously didn't experience the last one, where the Belgian players were practically elevated on a pedestal compared to everyone else.

Oh hello Toma :3

---
I believe it'd be best to just stay independent, with no merger.
We should work toward bringing closer relations with the UK, and NL however.
