Re: eBelgian Song Contest
And that's it! The rules are the same.
-Players must vote for 10 songs. The points must be given as follow: 12 pts to the favourite song, 10 to the second one, 8 to the third one and then 7 to 1 pts for the song that come from 7th to 10th. You must send me PM with your votes after listening to all of the songs, and you cannot reveal your votes in the forum - if you do that, you will be punished with reduce of 33% of your points. If someone forgets to vote until the deadline, also will be punished with reduce of 33% of the points given to his song.
Copy-paste this into the PM (to make you a bit easier), and tell me just the name of the countries (no need to fill it with the artist names and/or song titles:
12pts.
10pts.
8pts.
7pts.
6pts.
5pts.
4pts.
3pts.
2pts.
1pt.
The deadline is 05.02.2012 18:00 CET

Re: eBelgian Song Contest
The last reminder was sent to Medrolke and Cotarius - the only two left that haven't voted yet! deadline is tomorrow, 20:00 CET, if they miss to vote until then, the results will be published anyway, with -33% penalty for their songs...
And you can start thinking of your next entry: in January we had two editions of eBeSC, I would like to see at least one more (3 editions) in February!

Re: eBelgian Song Contest
( ALSO AVAILABLE AS IN-GAME ARTICLE (you know... so you can vote it up... ) )
Boklevski’s Predictions
Obviously, my predictions are highly speculative and subjective. I have not taken into account countries that might get a penalty for not voting.
Another edition of the eBelgian Song Contest is running on the forum. As the votes will be announced one by one, we have some days to go until the winner is known. Time to take a look at where the different songs might end!
Song N#1: The Cook Islands
Newcomer The Cook Islands joins the eSong Contest with a classic local feel-good song. Close your eyes and you feel the sand of the beach under your feet and the sun in your face. Video quality could have been better, but the feeling this song gives you will get it some solid points, plus some bonus points for being not a well-known artist and a real local song. Prediction: 8
Song N#2: United States of America
The United States hasn’t done well last eSong Contest, becoming 9th out of 12, and they want revenge. Seasick Steve has to do that job. Being a bit more mainstream than previous edition, they keep a sound that differentiates them from the rest of the field. Hard to say if it’s enough, as you have to like that sound: some will and some won’t, so they will probably end somewhere in the middle. Prediction: 9
Song N#3: Ireland
Ireland has sent one of their top acts and top export products to the Contest: Enya. Come to rest with “May it be”, a song that will probably end somewhere in the top of the charts. However, the song might be a bit too relaxing for some of the rockers in our midst, so the number 1 position might be too ambitious. Prediction: 4
Song N#4: Andorra
Andorra enters the eContest with some punk-rock. Partly in Spanish, with the chorus in English to sing along they will please both voters that want the song in local languages as international voters preferring English. Easy to listen song, but didn’t we leave punk-rock behind us already? Still, it will score some good points. Prediction: 5
Song N#5: India
India, another new country in the eContest, is shooting at the top with a local dance song. The video and song are quite catchy. Some will love the local influence, some will just place it into the category highly “annoying”. Going to be mid-field for India. Prediction: 10
Song N#6: Belgium
If you have forgotten what real good ol’ rock is; this is what it is. Belgian band Triggerfinger performs a live gig at Lowlands, touching the hearts of many generations rockers. That, plus the fact that it’s a Belgian band in the eBelgian Contest (home match), makes it the top favorite. Prediction: 1
Song N#7: Finland
Do you know the Finnish word for beer? Good, now you do. It’s a finnish catchy dance song, and a more mainstream dance song than – for example India – so if you like dance, you will like this. Expect a very good score. Prediction: 2
Song N#8: Macedonia
Macedonia apparently didn’t like their position in the last edition, because they have sent quite the opposite of what they sent last Contest. Aria is a sensitive song, which you can’t really dislike. It probably doesn’t score many 12 points, but it will get a decent score. Prediction: 3
Song N#9: Italy
You aren’t going to sing this along, unless you can speak Italian and you can speak it fast. It’s catchy and it’s hard to dislike, although you aren’t going to stick to the song because of the video clip. Still, we have a good sub-topper here. Prediction: 7
Song N#10: Russia
Russian music like you’ve seen it in the movies. Grand orchestras, solid marches and choirs singing some unintelligible lyrics. It’s definitely fun for the variation in the song list, but it’s not going to be a real challenge to the song aiming for the top. Prediction: 13
Song N#11: Canada
When we get to Canada, we get more rock music. Despite ranking last, Canada sticks to the seventies and eighties with Rush, although this will probably be accepted by the majority more easily. This time, it will definitely be not a last position, but a good sub-topper. Prediction: 6
Song N#12: Spain
The surprise winner of last edition, Spain is back with a violin, flute, accordion and a singer who could have met Columbus in person. This surely makes it different from the rest. Next question: Does it make a good difference? We will see, but for the moment, I must consider their chances somewhere near… zero. Prediction: 12
Song N#13: Turkey
Tarkan has one great gift: when he starts singing, I start to feel sick. What’s the Turkish word for “annoying”? Maybe some people will accidentally vote for it, so I won’t put it on the last spot, but I’m not predicting it to end very high. Prediction: 11

Re: eBelgian Song Contest
Yeah, Sammy and I joined a discussion group on that area to get over our trauma.
In fact, I caught Sammy secretly cheering at the moment the interest on Spanish state bonds went up again.
In the mean time, I've blocked all Spanish channels on my tv decoder.
But don't worry, we will probably get over it again in time...
