eBeRacers Empty eBeRacers

Post by NicknameFromRonny 2013-01-02, 13:37

Time to steer up things a bit, hit full throttle and put that forumactivity in top gear with...

eBeRacers!

eBeRacers will be a forumbased game in which each player will race the other ones on various tracks throughout the world. I have 20 tracks in store and would prefer a daily (or bi-daily) scedule so we'll be done by the end of the month.

Story

Formula 1, DakarRally and WRC all got in the hands of one man, who names himself NFRonny. This man, visible because of his moose-features, decides to create a new and better championship: the eBeRacers. He invites all riders to partake in these series of 20 competitions, during which they will have to bring out the best of their riding skills. All riders must build their own car in order to beat the diverse tracks and the other racers.

How do i compete?

For competing, you'll have to
a) build a car
You'll have to adjust it to the six types of surface at first.
Secondly, you can implement two of the five bonusses.
b) create a tactic before each race
Each rider can decide to give an extra-attack two times during the race. In that case you can pass by the rider in front of you (if he isn't to far away!). But, unfortunately, you'll also have one flat tire each race. The time it takes you to fix that, will give an opponent the opportunity to pass you by.
If you forget to enter a tactic, you'll have no attacks, but one flat tire in a lap by choice. The lap will be decided by a randomnumbergenerator.
There are ten laps each race, so you just pick two for attack and one for your flat (example: attack 3 and 8, flat 5). The one who picks first will have his actions done last (sounds strange, but it should be an advantage and a stimulation to enter your tactics fast!)
Each race, you'll also pick a teammate and an opponent. This way, you can help them or hold them back on crucial moments!

When will this get started?

As soon as there are enough competitors. I aim for at least 10 people (but more is certainly welcome). Less then eight won't be worth the hassle, tbh, and would make it a lot less fun as well (cause it's kind of build around the attacks).

Enlistment form?

Fill in this:
SURFACES (distribute 30 points to the following 6 types of surface. The max. you can give for a track is 10)
Mudd
Grass
Loose sand
Race track
Ice and snow
Sandy roads

BONUS (pic two of the following features)
Resistance
Acceleration
Aerodynamics
Steering
Power

You don't have to give tactics for the first race already, we'll do that later.

Good luck!

To much hassle. And to be fair, I kind of made this up just a few days ago, so you're actually the Beta-testers here Very Happy . And I'm not rich enough for prices.

ALL RIGHT! Y'ALL HAVE TIME LEFT TILL eREPTIME 06.00 TOMORROW (15h in RL Belgium) TO ENLIST IN TIME FOR THE FIRST RACE. IT'S NOW OR NEVER!!! EVERYONE WHO'S INTERESTED, STEP IN NOW! I'LL ACCEPT EXTRA RACERS TILL THE THIRD OF FOURTH RACE, BUT THEY'LL HAVE OFCOURSE SOME BACKING UP TO DO...
(if you enlist after this post, be very welcome. Cause I might not see your post in time to personally PM you, please send a PM as below descripted to me, thx)

For the eight racers, you'll receive a PM with the following. Fill in and send back THROUGH PM ASAP (if possible before 06 eReptime tomorrow)

Dear eBeRacers,

the first race will be in... Brazil. You already picked the setup for your car this season. That will determine "your regular speed" in this race... But you've got more tricks on your sleave. During the ten laps of this race, you'll be able to attack, but you might also have to deal with a flat tire. Attacks and flats cannot be in the same round. Both attacks also must be in a different round.
You also pick a personal teammate (you don't need to be eachother teammate, nor you have to be the only one e.g. A can choose B, B can choose C, C can choose D, D can choose B) and an enemy (same rules as teammate). Throughout the season, I hope you'll discover how you can be tactical with those choices.

Attack 1 lap:
Attack 2 lap:
Flat tire lap:
(please enter a number between 1 and 10 for those)
Teammate:
Enemy:
(for the list of possible teammates/enemies, please check the topic)

I'll send you this in front of each race. If you know you'll be a while AFK and you don't want to lose your attacks, you can send them for following races as well.

Good luck all.

I choose Critically to be my teammate.

I am not sure what attack means. Do you mean attack as an overtake or ramming your car at a different racer?

Also what is a round?

Attack as in overtake! (but the result will depend)

A round (in the context of racing) is more like "a race", while "a lap" is what Belgian calls "een ronde". That's what they've told me, as least.

Already got a perfectly filled one by Raskol Smile

*PS: by "the result will depend" in Konrads question, I mean "depend on your teammate, enemy". But no ramming. Or not a lot.

eBeRacers Empty Re: eBeRacers

Post by NicknameFromRonny 2013-01-08, 13:35

Bit of a remark. Managed to squeeze in seconds and not just positions. Just realised that a flat tire isn’t that realistic then anymore, so we’ll call it “a wrong turn” instead of “a flat tire”. Without much further ado...

***

We are welcoming you to the first round of the eBeRacers championship, held in the lovely country of Brazil. Held close to the facilities of Interlagos, this track will combine the mud and grass from the rainforest with the sandy roads that are so typical for this region. The finish line is drawn on the race track of Interlagos, but it will take more then racing for these riders. Bookies see Yannis as the favourite due to her excellent mud-skills, but that doesn’t say everything. Brace yourself for what might be the most competitive race of the season, since the diverse racers are really matched on this track.

Let us first start with the qualification laps from the racers, which will give us a good idea about their speed on this track! And its youngster Jlautour who started of the best this season. His natural combination of resistance and power might be what is needed to make it here. Yannis proved that her role as favourite might be correct with a second spot, but as you can see, everything is incredible close on this demanding track...

1. Jlautour
2. Yannis 0.26 sec
3. BeaverJuice 0.28 sec
4. Pieter 0.47 sec
5. EcoFreak 0.68 sec
6. Raskol 0.78 sec
7. Critically 0.89 sec
8. Konrad 1.19 sec
9. Cotarius 1.41 sec

A tight race is the prediction, that’s for sure. Red light. Two red lights. Three red lights. GREEN! And they’re off to the race. The first two laps are marked with a lot of mistakes in the turns, it shows the trickiness of the Brazilian track. Five racers make mistakes, the most remarkable one being from Konrad (who is not happy to see his enemy pass him by).
In the third lap, we see the first real attacks. EcoFreak manages to pass by BeaverJuice into third position, while Cotarius did not manage to accomplish his attack due to a good blocking manoeuvre by Critically. “That guy is the one I’ll never let pass!”, Critically says.
Nice attack in the fourth lap by Raskol, who can thank Pieter. Pieter makes driving more difficult for BeaverJuice in order to let his teammate Raskol win two spots, so the score after four laps is:

1. Jlautour; 2. Yannis 1 sec; 3. Eco 1.5 sec; 4. Raskol 1.9 sec; 5. BeaverJuice 2.5 sec ; 6. Pieter 2.9 sec ; 7. Critically 3.6 sec ; 8. Cotarius 5.2 sec ; 9. Konrad 5.4 sec

All to play, while we see that Konrads speed makes him pass by Cotarius again. Fifth lap and an attack from Critically who manages to take the position from Pieter. Not for long thou, Pieter gets his revenge only a few mile further in the race. Excitement in lap six when leader Jlautour takes a terrible turn whilst driving onto Interlagos, Yannis does not let this opportunity pass and the Danica Patrick of eBeRacers claims the first position. This does not end the bad luck for Jlautour, an attack by BeaverJuice kicks him back another position! Another remarkable sight is the minor mistake made by EcoFreak, but Raskol is so friendly to let his teammate in fourth position. That means that by the end of lap seven, these are the positions:

1. Yannis; 2. BeaverJuice 1.3 sec; 3. Jlautour 3 sec; 4. EcoFreak 3.3 sec; 5. Raskol 4 sec; 6. Pieter 4.7 sec; 7. Critically 5.6 sec; 8. Konrad 8.9 sec; 9. Cotarius 9.2 sec

The distances are still close, only the two last riders will have to start worrying. Closing a 5 second gap with an attack is something that’s only rarely seen! The eight lap is marked by an attack of Raskol. Because of his camaraderie with EcoFreak, he doesn’t push back the rider with the first hybrid race car. BeaverJuice is continuing his attacking streak in the meanwhile, Yannis is more than willing to let her teammate pass by and even gives him some slipstream to turn up the pace. But a bad turn by Yannis makes her lose her second position.
Lap nine and the tension is rising. All riders start to realise it’s now or never. EcoFreak decides to give it all and attacks his archenemy Yannis, but with the rhyme “As long as he thinks I’m a guy, he ain’t passing me by”, she rams the vehicle of EcoFreak. It’s Raskol who can make use of this quarrel, can he hold the third position he just received? On one of the grassy parts of the Brazilian track, Konrad and Critically decide to play “all or nothing”. First, there is a magnificent attack by Konrad, who makes use of Crit’s slipstream. Then the second man in this tandem builds up his speed as well and both riders manage to push back Pieter one position. Pieter tries to counter but can only retrieve Konrad. In the final meters of the lap, we see an attack by Yannis who takes back her third position, the dream is over for Raskol.
Last lap only seems to bring only some minor attacks in the end of the pack. Cotarius gives it a final try, but the distance between him and the rider in front is too big. Konrad manages to scoop back the seventh position from Pieter. It’s in the last streak that we get some excitement when Yannis gets her car next to Jlautours. 260, 270, 280, … Incredible speed and while the crowd goes through the roof, Yannis takes back second place!
But the checkered flag will be waved for no one else less than BeaverJuice! Despite having what the critics called “a mediocre car”, he managed to win this race with his resistance, his power and his clever tactics. Being in fifth position halfway did not turn down his enthousiasm and with two well-timed attacks (and some help from Yannis) he won this opening round of the eBeRacers! Yannis and Jlautour join him on the podium for champagne and a giant scale!

eBeRacers Le-trio-sur-le-podium_diaporama

1. BeaverJuice
2. Yannis 0,7 sec
3. Jlautour 2,7 sec
4. EcoFreak 4,5 sec
5. Raskol 4,6 sec
6. Critically 5,7 sec
7. Konrad 5,8 sec
8. Pieter 7,2 sec
9. Cotarius 13,1 sec

eBeRacersChampionship:
1. BeaverJuice 12
2. Yannis 9
3. Jlautour 7
4. EcoFreak 5
5. Raskol 4
6. Critically 3
7. Konrad 2
8. Pieter 1
9. Cotarius 0

Commentary by the director: “Well, it’s a nice victor for the first race. Maybe not the expected one who grabs the big points today, but certainly a well-deserved victory. It shows how a car is just a factor, tactics make the difference and bits of luck are always needed. Look at Pieter, by example, who had the bad luck of being trapped by the magnificent teammates Critically-Konrad. I hope it learned our racers something about the tactics and I hope to see them back WEDNESDAYevening. Hopefully I’ll receive their tactics in time for this race on the beautiful track of Magny Cours, France. It’s something for the race track racers of this bunch, if you ask me, but other factors are as important. One thing is for sure, the gaps between riders will be bigger, this was an extremely close race.”

PLEASE PM THE TACTICS (same format as first race, 2 attacks, 1 bad luck, 1 enemy, 1 teammate) TO ME BEFORE WEDNESDAY 1100 ErEPTIME!

Well, you had the sixth fastest car, but you ended fifth.
Beaver had the third car, but he won.
EcoFreak had the fifth car, but ended fourth.

Coincidence. Possibly. But maybe not Smile The system behind it gives a slight advantage to those who file early ^^

First race prooved that filing soon might get you an advantage!

lol ? So i must win this time ! Since I was the first to send you an answer for the first race and I finished 5th. And once again, I was the first to send you an answer for the second race :d

Mauvais perdant Razz

It's mostly a matter of strategy, giving it in early should give you only a slight advantage Smile

Shhh...

I just lost my mate EcoFreak, who said we should team up but gave me up for some dark reasons. By the way, did you notice who help you ? Wasn't really a surprise :p

Plus, when I read the story I could have kicked my ennemy's ass several times, I want some damn justice ! Very Happy

(Anyway, I don't care winning, I just love the story Smile )

eBeRacers Empty Re: eBeRacers

Post by NicknameFromRonny 2013-01-09, 20:48

The sun is out, the crowd is on their feet and the stakes are high: we are welcoming you to the second round of the eBeRacers championship in Magny Cours. Located in the heart of France, this circuit has a longstanding tradition to take out the best of the riders. Alain Prost, Mika Hakkinen, Michael Schumacher, … it are just a few of the grand names of automobile racing who have inscripted their name in the seal on the trophy and in the hearts of the fans. Who will join these big shots today? The winner surely will be a quality racetrack rider, but the circuit designers have also brought in some passages through the meadows of Central France. According to the fans, this should be a battle between the two great circuit racers of the starting field, Critically and EcoFreak, but opponents are on the horizon. As always, we first will tune in on the qualification laps.

These qualifications are driven in the backwards order of the championship, so it’s Cotarius who opens the debate today. Not really a magnificent time, but his specialities are on a different surface, so no harm there. It’s a wonder if someone would have that brilliant combination of aerodynamics and acceleration, but we’re afraid that is not the case. Pieter gives a first targeting time but it’s Critically who really sets the bar! Only one man can prove to be a bit faster and that is EcoFreak. The green rider takes the pole, let’s take a look at the rest of the board:

1. EcoFreak
2. Critically 0.37 sec
3. Raskol 1.10 sec
4. Pieter 1.94 sec
5. BeaverJuice 2.82 sec
6. Jlautour 4.07 sec
7. Cotarius 4.52 sec
8. Konrad 4.82 sec
9. Yannis 4.88 sec

Let us ask our co-commentator, mister Plato what he thinks about this. “Well, the gaps between the riders are quite big, no surprise with such a one-sided course. On one side, it’s a bit a pity cause the diverse tracks make more close combat, but of course the race track riders deserve their moment of glory as well and I’m sure EcoFreak and Critically will present us a fine battle today.” Yes indeed, you Greek fool, that is correct.

The racers are getting ready, going through their tactics for the last time, make radio contact with their team managers… The silence get broken with engines turning on and yes, they are off! First turn off the race track and on to the sandy road and it is Raskol who manages to turn the tables. He makes perfect use of a moment of distraction from Critically and passes him by on the inside: he’s now in second position but Critically is following close! Behind them we see a surprising manoeuver by daredevil BeaverJuice. He fakes an attack on Pieters left side and manages to squeeze in on the right side, a gutsy move and a well-deserved fourth position. Sadly, he cannot enjoy that position for a long time as he makes a wrong turn in the second lap.
Third lap out of ten and now it gets for real. Raskol was passed by again by his faster opponent, Critically, but he decides to give all he has once more. In the same turn as in the opening lap, he surprises “The Crit” and moves up a spot. Applause on all benches for Raskol, but hasn’t he spend his energy too soon? Behind the leading bunch we see Yannis marching up. Although her car might be the worst adapted to this track, she is able to not only make use of a minor mistake by Konrad but also to pass by Cotarius on a small piece of dirttrack. In the front again, disaster is prevented for Critically… he lost control over his car, but Pieter gives the unfortunate Critically the time to regain a good line in third position, a friendly act from Pieter “le Aimable”, as he is nicknamed by the local crowd. But le Aimable makes a small mistake and once more he has to hunt for BeaverJuice.
Not for long, that is. In the fourth lap he manages to turns it full throttle on a long, straight slap of asphalt and with his acceleration, he’s back in front of the Beaver. Bad luck in the meanwhile for Cotarius, he misses a turn and sees Konrad pass him by.
Last turn of this lap and oh! “Sacrebleu” rolls off the benches. EcoFreak must have miscalculated that turn. Raskol manages to make use of the situation and move into first position, which makes this board after four laps:

1. Raskol; 2. EcoFreak 2.8 sec; 3. Critically 2.9 sec; 4. Pieter 9.5 sec; 5. BeaverJuice 10.5 sec; 6. Jlautour 16.3 sec; 7. Yannis 18.8 sec; 8. Konrad 19.2 sec; 9. Cotarius 19.6 sec

The field is clearly separated in three groups and not a lot of warm friendships nor violent hatred in those groups, to be honest. This might turn down the excitement, it seems, but nothing less is true. In the last group, there is a swift attack by Konrad who surprises Yannis on one of the grassy lanes. Her bad luck keeps piling up when Cotarius manages to do the same two turns later. Cotarius seems to be eager to get away from that last position in the championship. But the most exciting moment can be seen in front of the race, where EcoFreak takes an attack on Raskol. Eco does not want to see his teammate lose time and decides to take him along in his hunt for the victory.
But Raskol cannot keep up this pace. He decides to play bald today and put his cards on the table in the first laps, but he forgets that Critically still has a joker up his sleeve. Crit speeds up in front of the grand stands, moves up to second position and is finally where he hoped to be from the beginning: in the front seat to make it as difficult as possible for Eco to win this race. In the back, we see some mistakes being made. First we have Jlautour, who fails on a left turn, which gives Konrad the opportunity to escape the pressure Cotarius was giving. Then we see Yannis who took a short dive in the sandbag on the side of the road, not her day today.
We almost forgot but between the two groups, we still have Pieter and BeaverJuice. Knowing they won’t be battling for the grand price today, these two decide to give the audience what they deserve: spectacular racing skills! After some magnificent duelling, it’s Pieter who seems to get the upper hand, which means that with only two laps still to go, this is the leaderboard:

1. EcoFreak; 2. Critically 1.8 sec; 3. Raskol 4.8 sec; 4. Pieter 17 sec; 5. BeaverJuice 19.8 sec; 6. Konrad 33 sec; 7. Jlautour 34.8 sec; 8. Cotarius 35.9 sec; 9. Yannis 38.2 sec

Lap number nine gives the spectators all they could dream of. Jlautour, nicknamed “the Ghost” completely goes head down. First we see Cotarius passing him by on a sandy road and Yannis also manages to get rid of the final position and scoop her car just in front of her enemy Jlautour. In the front of the race we see a mano-a-mano like we have seldom witnessed before. Critically and EcoFreak are driving wheel against wheel, Ben Hurstyle. The sweat of the racers is dripping off their foreheads, the mouths of the fans are dropping to the floor. EcoFreak pushes one last time and seems to get the upper hand but Critically has one more arrow on his bow: with a quick turn in the sand and a perfect corner following that, he surprises EcoFreak and puts him back in second position. The final lap is coloured with attempts from Eco to turn the tables one last time, but the decision is made. EcoFreak drove a magnificent race, but his tactics came a bit too late to finish it off. It is Critically who wins this nailbiter, Eco is a beautiful second and Raskol gets rewarded for his gutsy tactics with a third place.

Happy Crit is happy. He won the hearts of the crowd... and not only the crowd!

1. Critically
2. EcoFreak 1.8 sec
3. Raskol 8.1 sec
4. Pieter 20.6 sec
5. BeaverJuice 25.1 sec
6. Konrad 42.3 sec
7. Cotarius 43.4 sec
8. Yannis 45.3 sec
9. Jlautour 47.8 sec

eBeRacersChampionship:
1. BeaverJuice 16
2. Critically 15
3. EcoFreak 14
4. Raskol 11
5. Yannis 10
6. Jlautour 7
7. Pieter 6
8. Konrad 5
9. Cotarius 2

Commentary by the director: “Well, it sure was a tight race, both Eco and Critically had some good chances to win this one bit the tactics turned out to be a bit better by Critically. Nice race thou. It's also interesting to see the top three of the leaderboard close together... Too bad the effect of friendships and enemy-ships (sic.) didn’t completely work out today due to the big gaps between the riders. Let it be clear that a teammate that is thirty seconds in front of you or behind you doesn’t really make a difference! We’ve been a bit on our hunger on that, but I’m sure our next track will be able to solve that! eBeRacers is going to Mexico, where a great track has been designed on the great plains that surround New Mexico, an exciting one, that’s for sure.”

PLEASE PM THE TACTICS (same format as previous race, 2 attacks, 1 bad luck, 1 enemy, 1 teammate) TO ME BEFORE FRIDAY 11/01: 0600 ErEPTIME! If I have them earlier, we might speed it up.
