Brussels

Post by Director9 on 2013-04-21, 10:46

15-16-17 May I'll be in Brussels.

As I don't know any places to be in our capital, hereby I'm asking for any advice :

- what places are good to have a party at on a wednesday and a thursday, the friday I'll be leaving again.
- not too young a crowd, the group I'm going with has an age gap of 30-50
- a loose atmosphere
- and open late enough, closing hours not before 3am

Rue D'Arschot

Razz
On a serious note: Maybe a bit more of a student crowd but the area around the cimetiere de brussels is where most VUB students go out.

Jeux d'Hiver is also a beautiful place to go, for older peeps.
Heard about the WOOD bar, didn't experience yet.
And there's a lot of bars you can choose from. I know that my older entourage loves to go to a restaurant-bar called The Lodge, but it's not in the very centre.

(Careful with Fuse, some nights it's infested with kids, and don't let me start about s*** You Club :p )

What exactly do you want to do with your 30-50 y old people (dance, drink, dance & drink, have a place where you can still talk, have music that goes loud enough because the people in your group actually don't like each other but are forced to do it, something else,...)

Belgian French, which is different from French from France. So if any of you want to practice their French, beware. Wink

Don't go into the rue des Bouchers (Butchers' street) next to the Grand-Place, it's a tourist trap (expensive and you might get sick), that's all I can say.

That seems the right place Smile

dance/drink(probably arriving drunk :p )

Personally I don't mind the loudness. Read about The Wood, for me that seems fine.

Keep the tips coming, just a place with a nice loose atmosphere, where you can party and drink, and not only filled with hopeless dudes (that's our job)

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but I will be in Brussels in early December for only 3 days.

This is my first time in Brussels so what are the "must see" things?

As it is close to Christmas where do people suggest I go to shop for either something typically Belgian or something just a little different?

The Atomium

In December you must visit the christmas market in Brussels. Just go to the "Grande Place" and from there you will have a lot to see (and drink and eat if you want) Wink

It was in my mind a worthy effort.

Just got back from Brussels, thank you everyone for the tips.

It is an amazing city full of friendly polite people and we'll probably be going again sometime in the future

@Jofroi the Manneken Pis isn't that difficult to find and the Christmas tree is a little more conventional this year  santa
