Most of the things being said about deviding is just empty treads (I hope xD) coz not much people realy want to separate, and it would be even harder to arrange a separation than it would be to solve it. So idk, we'll just have to wait and see but in the day to day life no one bothers the problems :p

@Theneka: yeah, nobody wants to split Belgium
But (as I speak for myself) I hate the Walonian politicians cause they start crying when they get a small disadvantage
They also block everything that isnt good for them, and some parties try all the time to claim more flemish ground
The Flemish people are nationalistic, but not enough that they want to seperate, but the Walonian politicians are just speeding things up, they are the reason that N-VA got so popular

Re: Video on belgium
well, Glenn, the blocking part is also true for our parties. The flemish media just plays out the walloon blocks mostly and not the flemish ones. And hell yeah some flemish politicians can cry as well (Bert Ancieux? ).
the main reason NVA got this popular is mister De Wever, no doubt. He first together with Bourgeois setted up a cartel with CD&V, made those go for a very nationalistic flemish discours, won with them the elections, kept them during negotiations very pro-flanders (else we'll leave you!), dumped them after a while to go solo since they now had gained much more support and were much more known (with regards to "De Slimste Mens ter Wereld"), and see their old partner now going down while they win because it was CD&V at the negotiationstable and not NVA.
I wonder when we'll have an agreement now. Nationalistic parties are just sometimes too focussed on their irrational goals to get further. During the government Verhofstadt 2 we almost had split up BHV, with an agreement we would now consider very good and which the walloon parties now can't accept. But Spirit, a nationalistic party in cartel with the flemish socialists, just had to blow it up saying: "not flemish enough". And I tell you, put that agreement on the table now, everyone would be happy. It just got f***ed up by nationalists.

QFT ivan. But on NVA, I think most of you will see that they are just an empty shell with Bart Dewever as 'boegbeeld' and a bunch of opportunists (ex- VB-VLD senate and kamer members) and media figures (Sigfried bracke)

Re: Video on belgium
I voted NVA last elections, but I totally dont like Siegfried Bracke
I voted them because: Groen! agrees with everything as longas they can close some nuclear plants (kerncentrales), SP.A are just dumbasses with Genez as major idiot, Open VLD is evading every possibility of losing votes, CD&V was too weak, and they disappointed the Flemish by going for ministerposts instead for the word of the Flemish, Vlaams Belang is a little toooooooo extreme right; so yeah, then the onliest thing left was NVA, and they keep word right now, they arent just agreeing with everything
And say for yourself, if you had to give 500 million euro in exchange for some vague finance plan, you wouldnt agree dont you?
Also why the heck does the Walloons want to have a corridor to Brussels, as far as i know this is still one country, wich means, all ground is for every Belgian not just solely for Flemish or Walloons
Politicians just f*** everything up
Exchange those politicians by people who actually care about people and they would solve everything in a couple of weeks instead of arguing and just pushing everything in front of them
They should make a poll where you can choose between:
Does Belgium have to split up?
a) Yes
b) No
c) No, but those stupid politicians make me wanna have a split

Re: Video on belgium
the corridor is to be able to put a claim on brussels should the country split up. It's a foolish idea, I know. concerning the money, the financial laws indeed need to be changed, by sending money to the central government or by giving the regions some responsabilities (for instance, appointing government personal happens by all governments, but only the belgian government needs to pay their pensions). Also we need to watch beyond money as well: we need to realise that Flanders will in general pay more then wallonia or brussels, just because they are the more wealthier region at this moment. That's a fact and it happens in every country: Western germany has money transfers to eastern germany, northern italy to southern italy, american east and westcoast to the midlands, etc. We need to stop crying over that. Wallonia payed the biggest burden in the past, now it is our turn.
and politicians who keep their words, usually can't sign agreements. Watch at Yves Leterme. He wanted to keep his word to the flemish people, in the end, the only stable governments we could get were Verhofstad III and Van Rompuy, because they managed to make compromises and truely go for pragmatic rule. The communitarian hassle keeps dragging on and on and on and in the meantime, nothing rlly goods happens. This country needs rest so that politicians can focus on true management of the country, not the freaking hassle of 5 people and their dog who feel discriminated because they hear french in their local supermarkt. I don't know Glenn if you can remember, but I can remember the peace and rest during Verhofstad I and II, when the politicians were capable of letting each other score and were able of working across the regional borders. Where are those times?

Re: Video on belgium
I never understood why anyone ever thought Leterme was not going to fail.
Clearly a first minister should do his/her best for all citizens and regions.
Leterme won the elections with the promise he would help Flanders more than the other regions.
Look at their celebration speech. You saw more Vlaamse leeuwen than politicians.
I don't think it fitted that our future prime minister was singing De Vlaamse Leeuw so enthusiastic either.
And this coming from a historical belgicistische party.
If any party disappointed me the most the last years it has been the CD&V.

in fact, they were historically one of the more pro-flemish parties, or atleast had more pro-flemish politicians then others. The main reason why after the 2nd world war the flemish collaborators got redeemed so fast (much faster compared to dutch or french collaborators) was the support of the CVP for those people. They also helped a lot in creating the idea that the flemish collaborators were but naieve good meaning people who suffered terrible from the repression afterwards. You can blame them for that.

Re: Video on belgium
But Verhofstad wasnt a good leader
Jean-Luc dehaene (the guy before Verhofstad) made the costs drop and Belgium was getting better and better, our "begroting" was ok
But then Verhofstad came; he did good work i agree, but do you know how it came his "begroting" was ok? He sold a huge lot of governemental property, and we all know you can sell such thing only once, so he mislead most of us by letting us believe everything was ok
Politcians are all the same, they want as much power as possible and as much money as possible, like Kim Geybels, she got arrested with drugs in Thailand and still thinks she should be allowed in the Senate, how ridiculous is that?
Belgium is almost dead, not because Flemish hate Wallons or the other way, not because we wouldnt be able to pay all loans back
No, did you know that Belgium has to pay 45% of its income to RENT, only rent, and then they havent payed a cent of the loans, just the rent
Thats just ridiculous
the immigration is also f*** up; I agree "asielzoekers" want to find a better place, but Belgium is full, there is no more space and instead of letting people go only once through the procedure they let them go as much as they want, and after two years they have made children, they know the language, they are adapted to our life style and then they cant be send away anymore
Did you know that 60% of the youth in Antwerp is "allochtoon"; 60%!!!
I have a solution so politicians dont want to have long negotiations, right now they make 3000 euros a month (or more), well cut that back to 1500 untill they have a governement, untill that time they get only 1500 instead of 3000, you will see that everything will get solved a lot faster
Just take 5 people who are interested in politics right from the street, learn them what the income and outgoings are, how everything works and then let them decide, they will have arguements, but at least they wont keep on complaining for years about whether they should build a bridge or a tunnel
Belgium is f*** up, but thats the fault of politicans

Re: Video on belgium
I don't think that Belgium is f*** up at all. Income is far from low and welfare is high. If you think 45% for rent is much (you are talking about min wages and a city right?) you should check a few other places in the world. Also Belgium has a much higher rate of home owners than other countries.
Some politicians want to make us believe we are doing bad and everything could be so much better. If you look at the votes it seems they have convinced a lot of us. Belgium and specially Flanders (to be honest I don't know Wallonie so good) is a wonderful place to live. The only thing we miss is good weather and sun.

oooh right. Thought you where talking about the rent of a house lol
Our taxes are high and have always been high. Don't see why this is at once so much worse.
A high welfare state costs money. I agree if you say that tax money could be used more efficient. But isn't this everywhere.

In France they go manifestate and start buring cars if their president (who they all voted for) decides to do things he promised to do

In France they go manifestate and start buring cars if their president (who they all voted for) decides to do things he promised to do
In Belgium we accept it that our governement sucks because we voted for them
I geuss thats just how we belgians do it
come on, lets go together Flemish and Wallons and take over the parliament and put normal people in those seats to solve all our problems
IMHO, you are developing skills right here that could enable you to do just that. That is a very hopeful thing I see developing from this game!
