Who to vote for?
I'm thinking about voting for my own believs... the goals placed by my Party President aren't my goals. I'm thinking about voting for volsem since he's goals are more the goals that i believe in.
Who should we vote for and why?

Re: Who to vote for?
I don't really think that's a debate to have in here...
There are other places on the forum (like the political section) where it is eventualy more apropriate to discuss something like that...
I think candidates (some of them) have made their point in there;

Re: Who to vote for?
I agree this thread would be more appropriate in another part of the forum and hope the next available admin will move it.
With regard to the goals, I would not take them too seriously. If you check, you will see that Goopy has set a goal to gain one additional region - the District of Columbia, which I am quite certain he does not expect could ever happen.
With regard to reading articles, that would be quite an impressive trick. GoopyPants and Bruno Cnudde do not have newspapers. David Cnudde's most recent article was 41 days ago, Volsem's was 60 days ago, and jamster's was 73 days ago. Not surprisingly, none of these concerned the current election. This leads to the conclusion that the only information you are going to find about what they intend to do as CP can be found right here on this forum. I know it's not much, but unfortunately, it's all we have.

Indeed, they don't have any real effect, except a small in-game recognition if the country meets its goals. A word to the wise, though: Wim is not the only player who looks at these goals and takes them into consideration when voting.

Someone ho is running for CP should at least write something (a paper or article on this forum) iff not he shouldn't run for CP!!!
The persons ho are running are nothing compared to critically and nohjis... but we need to chose!

It is rather strange that none of the current candidates have taken a stand about joining a alliance, this is something that could turn tens of voters to them
I am willing to endorse any candidate who is in favour of joining an alliance!

Well, the only one on the ballot who has told us anything at all about his policies is Goopy, and sorry, NLSP, but I believe his stand is for status quo, i.e., neutrality.

Even Goopy policy was saying nothing, only thing he wants he keep things going no plans no vision for the future. I find it disappointing that none of the candidates really have any vision for the country, no plans it shows no leadership to me.

Re: Who to vote for?
you're confusing a lack of vision with an understanding of the reality of eBelgium and an unwillingness to make grandiose promises.
If we wish to maintain our neutrality, we can't join an alliance. If we decide to join an alliance, the only real protection we have, our neutrality, will be gone.
As things currently are, I wouldn't support an alliance. Sure, if things change (one of the alliances decides we are de facto members of the other alliance and invades us), and I'm not saying never, but running on a pro-One or Teden platform is not something I'm willing to do.

I have to say, I think Goopy gave a reasonable answer about his stance on neutrality, and while personally I would like to have heard more about his intentions in other areas, indeed, vision does need to be tempered with reality. In any case, we have to work with what we have, and Goopy remains the best option on the current ballot, imo.

Look @ Bolivia Goopy they are a neutral country 2, soon they won't have a country. Making an alliance for self protection is a good thing.

run a poll and sound out the idea. I don't think even half of the poll-takers would want to commit to one alliance, and probably of those half they would be at least partially split between possible alliances.
if it is the will of the people that eBelgium commit formally to an alliance, why has the CP and government been working carefully (especially the last couple of months) to restore our being perceived as neutral?
And I'm not seeing voices clamoring for this, just you. But sure, set up a poll and show me some facts

Choosing either alliance ONE or Terra/Eden wouldn't be in Belgium's best interest. You know that the (active) citizens are split between pro ONE and pro TEDEN. To choose either side would only alienate the other side of the citizens. What would happen is or the other side would keep fighting against the side we choose making us utterly a unreliable ally seeing half our citizens are fighting against our allies. The other option is that a good part of the active citizens would leave.
Either way it would be a loose/loose situation to choose either side in the conflict.
Thus a poll would serve no purpose.
