My first article in my first newspaper Empty My first article in my first newspaper

Post by Misanthropist 2010-11-20, 18:35

Hi

I just wrote my first article: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/member-of-board-a-new-alliance-is-growing-1578673/1/20
Any advice on how I can make my newspaper more succesful? How to reach 1000 subscribers?

Thanks!

How else can you earn the reward of 1000 subscribers?

I hear you can get FP if you do that and you don't have the correct citizenship. I think the best way, if you don't want to move out of eBelgium, is create a newspaper or move one into an org and go around posting articles through that while moving the org around. Then, when you are nearing 1000 subs, ask to transfer your newspaper to your citizen account and try to get the last of those 1000 subscriptions.

I'm not sure if this is possible, though, so ::shrug::.

Another possibility is to advertise your paper internationally, and possibly offer prizes for subbing, but that takes a lot of money, and you need to be sure you have written something of international interest. You also could have friends in other countries who will republish your articles there. I have picked up some subs (not a MM though) by reading internationally, subbing and commenting, and also recently had a poem published by a friend in eNZ.

You have to have citizenship to have your newspaper somewhere else. So properly go to Poland or Serbia and get citizenship, move back to Belgium and write articles to that country. You will make quite a few.

Media Mogul is not the easiest of medals to obtain - you either need to invest a lot of time, publishing quality articles for weeks and months, building up a loyal public, using shouts and asking others to shout, OR you need to invest a lot of money for advertizement, MediaMogulMedal projects or voting groups like this one: https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1qMu-en7SK78xGCu6DIGWuHSx-sO_o3kH3Pt2HiBuf9s

But in the end this MM medal only has value if you deserved it by making the media (and the eRepublik experience) more interesting and fun (there are Media Moguls who have a newspaper, but not a single article, literally!), and if you're starting up a newspaper in eBelgium, then it's because you want to improve our media, communicate your thouts with fellow countrymen and inform the general public - just doing it for the medal won't get you far... (I'm using "you" here not refering to anyone in particular, but as an inpersonal construction Wink )

I've thought about purchasing subscribers for my newspaper but thought it would be better to earn my subscribers then pay 15 gold for them. If people like your articles, they tell their friends and it passes on to you becoming a very successful newspaper article writer Smile

I've got a friend in the business so he isn't a scam. He also does article voting.

in the link from Aldous its "1 vote is 0.015 gold"

Anyway, I've been thinking of paying 10g just for fun, so eventually i get at least one medal of each possible medal :p

Subbing doesnt matter in my eyes, vote buying is a lot worse as you're paying to get your article up, wich means (especially in Belgium) that your article kinda sucks if it isnt able to reach top 5 on its own

I've just spoken to my friend and I'm spending 10 gold for a MM medal. I mean I didn't have a use for the gold and now I will have another medal Smile
