Who do you support for the June CP election?
[Public politics]June 2011 Presidential Poll
Doing a bit of a poll to judge the political waters for the upcoming CP election.
This is a personal poll, thus biased, of course. Levi and Manong both have supportive followers and have been here quite a while, but really haven't done much for the community for many months. Powerown has only recently reappeared. Chris Stanwick, however, has served in the Cabinet continuously since 17th February, has extensive political experience in several countries around the world, has a very extensive contact list with close ties to many old, experienced citizens of the New World, and has the best interests of Belgium at heart.
The choice is yours, Belgium.

Re: [Public politics]June 2011 Presidential Poll
my assessment
M.Leviathin: a very good candidate imo. No offence to mitte, but the past month has been f*** boring as hell. Why would anyone stay in eBE? The economic climate is s***, there's no NE bonus and all we've done for "fun" in the past month is bitch a lot about a boring constitution.
Levi is imo the candidate that will change the later and hopefully make the game fun again. He will get players active again, he's not afraid to step on some toes, says what he wants and he's one hell of a guy to get the party started.
The negative points of Levi are his extremely poor IRC activity (something he should really work on) and that I really know how he will responds in a serious situation (for example a attack on eBE)
Manong Rizal A little bit the father of the community. He's always trying to be diplomatic and trying to find a middle way to please everyone. He's liked by everyone but has a nasty habit of sometimes bailing out all of the sudden when he decides to "quit" for another few days.
Manongs negative points are that imo he lacks the balls to be president that he can be a bit insecure and influenceable.
powerown64 tbf, I can't really say much as he hasn't done much in eBE anyway.
Chris Stanwick He would certainly make a great president. I think his presidency would be very similar to that mitteke's (even a copy I'd dare to say). Good with numbers, good with foreign affairs and a clever thinker.
My negative points is that it would be a bit boring.
In conclusion: My vote will go for either Chris or Levi. Chris is times of crisis or when there is a need for a "leader", Levi in times of peace when there is need for an "entertainer".

Re: [Public politics]June 2011 Presidential Poll
Thank you for your relatively objective analysis of the candidates, shadow.
In response to your comments on myself, I admit that it will be difficult to overcome boredom given the present sentiment of most Belgians in regards to merging, which I see as the ultimate boredom breaker. However, as president, I will work towards reaching a compromise solution to the merger debate, much the same we have worked toward reaching a compromise solution to the constitution debates. We need a clear leader in the debate, someone to spearhead the effort to unite the community around one option.
I will also "whore" out our army by negotiating with other nations who have need of an organized fighting force for assistance in their battles. There is no reason why our military cannot be a mobile force. Unlike some members of our community, I have less concern for how our neighbours look upon our military actions in other nations. I really don't care if the UK sees our military fighting in uniform in Ireland. I too have had an account on the UK forum since 2009 and am friends with many influential Britons. I'm not worried about a potential invasion.
The recent changes to the economic module have seriously f***ed up our economy to the point where raws are almost worthless. Right now, we produce more raws per person than before, meaning the market is swamped. We simply don't have the demand for what we produce. Pushing import taxes to 99% across the board is not the only solution to the problem, although it is a start. We need to take further steps to improve our economy. Although it will not be popular, I will address the military companies again, especially the RM companies. At times like these, with the economy in a depression, we need to take steps to improve the lot of the citizens as a whole, even if it comes at the expense of the government/military. The well-being of Belgian citizens is the top priority of the government, not saving a buck or two to supply only a fraction of the population.
Without regular battles and the NE advantage, Belgium is falling behind other nations in XP, strength, and military rank. We have a lot of neighbouring nations. If we were to add just two major powers by MPP, we would have daily battles to fight in. Plus, we can NE the Netherlands once they RW themselves back into existence. As long as Poland occupies their central regions, we can continuously battle Southern NL, then help them RW it back, and conquer it all over again without worrying about losing our NE with them since their northern regions are safely out of our reach. Let's do what we need to so that we can maximize our XP, strength, and military rank.
Let's face it, we are already in a time of crisis due to the economic depression and lack of fun in our community. As shadow says, I would make a good crisis president. Give me a try, you know you want to.

Wow apologies then mittekemuis. With all these president articles I thought a month had already passed and little has happened yet.
That doesn't mean you shouldn't do something about the player retention, the economy and the NE bonus tho!

Well, why not. Let's get us some good, strong MPPs and NE Germany. Poland is NEing them too, so their attention will be elsewhere.

I just want to stress what an awful idea that is. I'm hoping you're kidding about that.

Levi, what's going on? You never responded to my PM, you've had the same XP for the last three days, you're unemployed...you're not quitting the game are you?

Well, my advice is:
Help Dutch to RW, and then NE them.

Can't we just NE ourselves and have a battle royale (with cheese) in Wallonia? Kinda a thunderdome thing... replete with the obligatory spikey armor, chains, and mohawks.
