Getting knew people to join eBelgium.

This is a continuation of "recruiting new eBelgian citizens". In the Private forum for the United Belgian Independents we have been talking about some things that we could do to get more people to join us. It is going okay. We have a few ideas:

1. Play other games (in Dutch) and get in to the community and then invite people.
2. Make another youtube video. But needs to be a lot more exciting then the last one.
3. Try and get a newspaper to write in article in RL Belgium.
4. Start a blog about eBelgium.

Number 1 was a good idea it just would take a long time, some times.
Number 2 it is a okay idea but I was talking to Mike, who did the last one almost a year ago, and we decided that it would have to be a lot better and he would be glad to help with it.
Number 3 this would be very hard. And some one said that there is a page in the newspaper that you write a letter to them and they put it in there but people do not write it.
Number 4 this just came up so not much thought into this.


So this is what was been going on. What do you guys think? Any other ideas? Or thoughts?

We are having the same issue in eNZ right now. We are trying to get more RL Kiwis to join the game, as we only have around 5-7 of 470 people who are actually from NZ in RL.

Some of your ideas are good and we may take a look at using them. Keep up the great work, I hope you get more citizens to join you

i like the second idea about the youtube video i dont know if it will help but this is a fan made trailer about a game and because of it lots of people bought it

There is a thing called "Kiss and Ride" in Metro. Metro is the newspaper that is distributed in the trainstations, so a lot of students and working people read it. That "Kiss and Ride" is a small section where you can write short messages, size: bit bigger then tweets, to other trainmessengers. But it think they won't bite for publicity. Unless we cover it up very well^^

See jamster that is my point something like that will draw people in.

and NFR, it is possible but as I said hard. We possible could try. But I do not speak Dutch nor French so I am no help their at all.

I dont think the Kiss and Ride part is supposed as advertising page :p

I read the Metro every day and never saw some advertising in it. Only messages like "Hey you nice girl on the 8:25 train Charleroi - Antwerpen with your blond hair and always bitting on your pencil: I like you"

Must be funny.
People need to say "check this" without per se wanting to be making publicity for the game.

Genious idea:

"Hey honey, we met on Erepublik and now we are together for one year, I hope this message will suprise you on your way to work"

Those are good ideas! I will talk to Mike since I have not seen him on the forum a lot lately. So thanks and please keep the ideas coming.

Maybe if you write something up and mail it to a journalist at HLN or nieuwsblad or whatever and say that walloons and flemish can really form a government in a game, they might pick in on it.

Else, maybe try contacting sam de bruyn from stubru again?

Anyone an idea about the costs?

We do a spamraid on telenet forum, belgacom forum, ... and spam our referal links. Eventually there will be a few who will join, right?

And most forums are very strict about referal links, so might be better off giving them a choice, with or without referal

I agree with Pieter on that one.

If you were to start a blog, I'd be happy to make a few posts or administrate the blog, I know a few things about gadgets and the settings of the blog

I send a mail to the magazine HUMO.
They have a topic "linkeboel".
It is about all kind of things on the internet. Wait and see if they publish...
