Re: interesting article
I do not discriminate between religions and sects, I hate them all equally
but on topic, anyone has an idea what that serb has done to be tempbanned?

Re: interesting article
Real life religion shoud be strictly banned in-game... That includes "Atheism" and such... As far as racism goes, there's really no stopping it...

If the picture was as I saw it described, it was indeed vulgar and would have got him a temp ban even if it had not involved religion. As it was, however, he apparently managed to offend just about every Muslim in the eWorld. Indeed, that sort of thing should have no place in this or any game.

Re: interesting article
I haven't seen the pic, but I do find that all this "oh noes we can't offend muslims" is a bit over the top.
If some one posts a pic of Jesus as a zombie or texts laughing with creationists or the bible, it's ok and everyone laughs. If some newspaper posts a comic of Muhammed they get bombed.
Last year there was a big Iranian baby boom in eRep and they joined the IG forum (that back then still had a off-topic section, which was kinda a mini 4chan.) and they started talking about islam and how it is the only real relgion. After that we all started posting up pics of Muhammed (even pics where he was f*** a sheep and stuff) and it was hilarious. And the only reason why I participated is not because I hate islam, but because Muslims (and then I don't mean everyone) need to learn that there is such a thing called freedom of speech and that you can't forbid me to post pics of your prophet. And if you try to forbid me, I will put even more effort in posting them.

Re: interesting article
well, they (or some people) can forbid you to post some things, but however that is not the point.
Offend to offend is not desirable and bringing real life into eRep only creates troubles and should not be done, however it is my rl opinion that all religions needs to be seriously mocked and despised, what doesn't mean that I do not respect the people following that religion.
If it is their belief that it is not respectful to portray person X, then I think it is more then just rude and only 'shocking for shocking'-behaviour to show pictures of person X having sexual intimacy with some goats/sheep/horses/kittens/donkeys/....

Re: interesting article
This particular incident did not involve the prophet or any other person except an unknown (presumably non-Muslim), displaying his genitals on top of the Quran. I'm pretty sure Christians would be similarly offended by such a picture with the Bible or Jews with the Torah. However, as I said, if it had involved that display even with just the Sunday comics, it was deserving of a temp ban.

Re: interesting article
indeed MaryamQ, have respect for every book is my principle.
(for those who care: I would be as much against it, if it was any other book or writing)

Re: interesting article
I think you have always be respected even what somebody else is doing. To say he did the same doesn't mean you can do the same.
Respect starts with yourself.

I'd find that hilarious really.

I'm not talking about erep, I'm talking about the internet in general.
The internet is the ultimate form of freedom of speech. There is nothing that can't be said on the internet and we must either all accept that and live with it or disconnect your computer forever.
Ppl whining about it (and then I'm not referring to you maryam but to all the Iranians who are crying rivers over this) only makes it worse and more amusing.

Well there are certain sites with rules... These rules will sometimes be enforced... Granted, internet = Freedom of Speech, however, sites within the internet can limit that freedom.

Very true, Ray, and since eRep sets itself up to be one of those sites with rules, they should enforce them regardless of how many Euros PedjaT or anyone else throws their way.

not really. There are no rules in erep. There are only rules the admin hide behind when they feel like it. In the end it's their product and they with it what they want.
It's actually very similar to eBelgium where we also admins who hide behind laws when they feel like it and chose to neglect them when they don't feel like it.

Nonethless, it is the idea of "Here is the law, follow it or don't. If you don't prepare yourself for possible consequence."
It's pretty much that simple, isn't it?
