Le tour de France
I saw that some people liked the Olympics, so why not one of the other great sports events?
The "forum" tour de France will follow the track of the official tour de France 2011.
How do you participate?
Well, just as the Olympics: post your skill level on the forum and you're in.
The skills this time: Climbing, Sprinting, Hills, Acceleration, Time Trial, Cobblestones, Attack, Downhill
You can give in total 570 (!) points, with a maximum of 85 points. Limits: maximum two skills 80+ and four 70+ (with thanks to Pro Cycling Manager for the points system )
When will it start?
Depends on popularity, when no one joins anymore, it will start.
Prizes
Only honour . But there will be given three jerseys: yellow (general), green (sprints) and red/white (mountains).
Hints
- Don't all go for yellow, it decreases your chances of winning a stage or a jersey.
- It's not when you have the best skills on something, you immediatly win the stage. It's not just math, like the Olympics. But in the end, high skills pay off, off course.
- If there are any questions, post them on the forum.
Enjoy!

Nah, just like the Olympics. I don't have the 2011 edition and it would be difficult to do, as there are lots of other riders who will beat the hell out of you guys.

Okay, seeing there are now 7, "le tour" will begin tomorrow around 9.00h.
You can still participate, just post your skills before 9.00h.
Stage 1 information will follow later.

Passage du Gois -> Mont des Alouettes
JEAN-FRANÇOIS PESCHEUX’S ANALYSIS : A change of custom
“It has been a kind of tradition since 1967 that the Tour starts with a prologue. But, as in 2008, we will start with a road stage. We wanted to shake up the teams’ plans a little bit and change the way they operate. Only 10 riders can realistically contend for victory in a prologue. But each one of the 198 riders could win this stage and pull on the yellow jersey. Three years ago, the race started in Brittany, and this time we’re starting in the Vendée. The route will follow the coast before turning inland towards Les Herbiers and the Mont des Alouettes. This is not an ‘hors catégorie’ test, but even so it’s a finish for the strong men. The pure sprinters will struggle. It will suit someone like Thor Hushovd or a puncheur like Thomas Voeckler.”

Unless that steak has been affected with clenbuterol, no problem. Hint: don't eat Mexican steaks, Spanish are safe, unless you eat that only steak in the whole EU that Contador had.

Re: Le tour de France
Team presentation this morning:
Helviro: One of the favorites for yellow, it depends all on his TT because he'll be hard to beat in the mountains.
Nohjis: He can take advantage of the mediocre TT skills of Helviro. But he'll need to keep up in the mountains.
Johny English A: One of the few sprinters, he'll will be challenged by...
Fhaemita Malodorous: Altough there aren't that many sprinters, the sprints will be spiced up by those two.
Cotarius: The "baroudeur". He can attack in stages where others aren't that interested in winning the stage.
MaryamQ: It will be hard to beat her in the mountains, maybe she can also increase her lead in the several hilly stages.
El1temkd: An outsider. He'll have to use the surprise.
NLSP: Deadly on sprints on hills. An outsider for green, if he stays sober.
Critically: another outsider. Maybe he can work together with El1temkd.
Let's hope stage 1 goes well. See you later!

Re: Le tour de France
Et le tour commence...
No problems at the unofficial start at paasage du Gois.
After the official start, no one attacks. Off course it will be a very easy race, as almost everybody has a chance of winning today. The mont des Allouettes isn't easy, so the sprinters will wait for the ultra-sprint to unleash their power.
The supersprint in Avrille is coming up...
I can see NLSP in the wheel of Fhaemita, MaryamQ is behind Johny English A. Attack from Cotarius! Fhaemita Malodorous reacts, everybody is able to follow at the moment... Fhaemita Malodorous now in front... he takes it!
Result supersprint:
1. Fhaemita Malodorous (20p) 4. Johny English A(13p) 7. El1temkd (9p)
2. NLSP (17p) 5. MaryamQ (11p) 8. Nohjis (8p)
3. Cotarius (15p) 6. Critically (10p) 9. Helviro (7p)
After this, let's take a look at the favorites for today. NLSP is the biggest as his sprints on hills are deadly for some. He will certainly be challenged by Johny English A. MaryamQ and Cotarius are outsiders.
Only 20km left... There goes Critically. On the first few hills of the tour, he impresses the crowd. No one reacts.
10km... Still Critically, but it's getting hard, as it's mainly downhill now and that's a very negative point for an attacker.
5km.. He keeps going, but the gap's almost closed.
3km... The climb has begun. Critically is back in the peloton. He'll have a hard time keeping up the pace made by Nohjis.
Cotarius attacks! MaryamQ follows... End of the story for Critically, Nohjis and Fhaemita Malodorous. Nohjis already losing time in the first stage... let's hope he manages to shorten the gap.
Only 1km left. MaryamQ goes! But that's not good enough! NLSP and Johny English A will sprint for the victory.
Johny English A can't keep up! NLSP takes the victory and every jersey.
Result+standings yellow jersey:
1. NLSP
2. Johny English A +3"
3. MaryamQ +6"
4. Cotarius + 14"
5. Helviro
6. El1temkd + 16"
7. Nohjis + 28"
8. Critically + 47"
9. Fhaemita Malodorous + 1'21"
Green jersey:
1. NLSP (62p) 2. Johny English A (48p) 3. MaryamQ (41p) 4. Cotarius (41p) 5.Fhaemita Malodorous (34p)6. El1temkd (29p)
7. Helviro (29p) 8. Nohjis (26p) 9. Critically (26p)

Re: Le tour de France
After race interviews would sound a bit like this:
NLSP: Yeah the legs were good today, I tested in the supersprint and decided to hold until the end
MaryamQ: I have no idea what happened I was getting this victory when suddenly I couldn't shift to the correct gear
Johny English A: That NLSP guy was just way superior, nothing to do about it

Re: Le tour de France
23km riding alone on the flat track at Les Essarts. Who manages to beat time trial specialist Nohjis?
Let's look back first at yesterday's stage. MaryamQ made a small gap on the favorites, while Nohjis is already 41" behind. NLSP took the lead in the green jersey standings, but his yellow jersey will probably be given away today due to his poor TT skills.
Today, Nohjis is the big favorite, followed by almost everybody. There are lots of good TT specialists this year. Will this mean that there won't be great differences? Let's find out soon.
First starter is Fhaemita Malodorous. He can set a good time at the finish, but the general standings aren't that important for him.
And so, the list goes on. NLSP is the last one to start, while Fhaemita is almost done.
Critically can't beat the time of Fhaemita...
TT specialist Nohjis closing in... WHAT A TIME! 45" in front of Fhaemita on such an easy track. Bad luck for him, there's only one more TT left.
El1temkd... Just behind Fhaemita.
Helviro... He manages to take second place for the moment. Still 35" behind Nohjis.
Cotarius now... Mediocre time.
Finally MaryamQ... Behind Helviro, that's important. Only a slight gap, but still...
Johny English A comes up... Not a good time.
Where's NLSP? I didn't saw a fall or a flat tire. Oh, there he comes. That's just rubbish. He has given away his yellow jersay way too easy. But who'll take it?
Result:
1. Nohjis
2. Helviro +35"
3. MaryamQ + 39"
4. Fhaemita Malodorous + 45"
5. El1temkd + 47"
6. Critically + 52"
7. Cotarius + 58"
8. Johny English A + 1'08"
9. NLSP + 1'49"
Standings:
1. Nohjis
2. MaryamQ +17"
3. Helviro +21"

5. Johny English A + 43"
6. Cotarius +44"
7. Critically +1.11
8. NLSP +1.21
9. Fhaemita Malodorous +1.38

JEAN-FRANÇOIS PESCHEUX’S ANALYSIS : First opportunity for the sprinters
“We are heading out of the Vendée and into Brittany, crossing the Loire via the Saint-Nazaire bridge, which is the high point of this stage. There is no real difficulty and it seems ideal for the sprinters. They will have to take advantage of this opportunity because they are going to realise very quickly that there aren’t a lot of finishes that suit them. They will have to take care, though: if the wind gets up off the sea, echelons could form in the closing kilometres.”

/throws the victory flowers into the crowd of cheering fans
Let's hope the second time trial has an even greater impact... Sadly this Tour is oriented a bit much towards climbing.
/hopes that MaryamQ "Evans" has an offday in the mountains.
In other news:
The sponsor LP Healthbars is recruiting new riders to join the team for next events. They're looking for a new sports director and 3 more riders. Pay includes a daily healthbar after completing some kind of "order".

Re: Le tour de France
"Mes excuses", but the new year brought also quite a hangover Let's continue with the next (flat) stage.
After 25km, Cotarius and Critically escape from the peloton. This seems the attack of the day.
The race continues slowly towards the supersprint. The first place is taken Cotarius. Not a real sprint in the front group. They keep working together.
Now the sprint of the peloton in Saint-Hilaire-de-Chaleons. Clean win of Johny English A.
Result:
1. Cotarius 20 4. NLSP 13 7. El1temkd 9
2. Critically 17 5. Fhaemita Malodorous 11 8. Helviro 8
3. Johny English A 15 6. MaryamQ 10 9. Nohjis 7
Now the climb of the pont du Saint-Nazaire. A prestigious sprint, as the winner of this sprint will take over the mountain jersey.
And again it's Cotarius who takes it. Critically will regret his attack as the peloton is closing in now.
With only 6km to go, the lead surrenders to the peloton.
1km... The sprinters are ready.
500m... Still waiting.
250m... NLSP goes! That's maybe a bit too early as the final metres are slightly uphill.
Fhaemita takes the victory! NLSP couldn't keep it up.
Result:
1. Fhaemita Malodorous
2. NLSP +0"
3. Johny English A
4. Helviro
5. MaryamQ
6. El1temkd

5. Johny English A + 43"
6. Cotarius +44"
7. Critically +1.11
8. NLSP +1.21
9. Fhaemita Malodorous +1.38

JEAN-FRANÇOIS PESCHEUX’S ANALYSIS : Brittany’s “mountain”
“This stage provides some innovation with a finish on the summit of the Mûr-de-Bretagne, which comes at the end of a beautiful but very tough two-kilometre climb. The road rises in such a straight line that even from the bottom the finish is almost visible. It’s going to be impressive, with steep ramps right from the bottom. But even before getting to that point, there is a series of hills in central Brittany where the twisting roads can be a real slog. The riders will have to be on their guard because these could lead to splits in the peloton and, consequently, a surprise or two. What is for sure is that there won’t be any sprinters in contention. Look instead for riders in the mould of Philippe Gilbert or Thomas Voeckler.”
Some advertising: in Sportsworld, later today, an impression of cyclo-cross. For people who love it or hate it.
