eBelgium and Int'l Relations
Hello Everyone,
I was rather curious on the current situation of eBelgium and the international community. I have understood that this little European nation has traditionally a "neutral" country but on occasion has signed MPP's with ONE nations.
So I was curious how your nation has managed to retain this policy, as we in eNZ also sought this during our early years but were eventually forced to take a very pro-ONE policy.
Cheers,
Oboacer

Re: eBelgium and Int'l Relations
Our policy is neutrality and thus we sign MPP with both sides.
However, TEDEN attacked us several times last year and thus at some moments we had to take only ONE MPP.

Re: eBelgium and Int'l Relations
I find it ironic that TEDEN, by making these attacks, has stimulated what looks like a pro-ONE stance with us. The majority of our Congress and government still prefer neutrality, but in order to maintain that, we have to choose our alliances very carefully. We cannot choose some TEDEN countries we might like as allies because it would be a betrayal of ONE and pro-ONE friends who stood by us when we were under attack. It is then quite unfair of TEDEN to complain that we do not lean toward them.

Re: eBelgium and Int'l Relations
Perhaps we should do something to prove our neutrality? I know in the Cold War several nations (India, for instance) publicly announced the Unaligned Movement. Perhaps we could do that?

Re: eBelgium and Int'l Relations
Actually, we started doing that by informing the others that we are neutral. And that should be the first step, and that step we're doing right now. The thing is that few ONE and pro-ONE countries claimed that they used to believe that we are pro-TEDEN, and we all know what was happening with TEDEN countries in the past: most of them believed that we are pro-ONE (because of our MPP with UK and because we helped UK in their war against Ireland). So, the fact is that the other countries actually don't have a clear image of eBelgian politics. I cannot blame anyone about that lack of diplomacy in the past, but I believe that thing could be changed!Karakoran wrote:Perhaps we should do something to prove our neutrality? Re: eBelgium and Int'l Relations
The "Wardist" are pro-one. People like Mitte, TR, maybe NLSP etc are pro-one. The Shadowist like fhaemita, M.Leviathin, Shadow, myself are from Terra/ Eden.
Overall, it does not matter what you think you are. As long as you do not completely stay out of the way to both sides, then your claim of neutrality is not really valid.

Although ofcourse there are exceptions ofcourse Wardist are generally speaking proONE (you forgot Pieter in the list or proONE Wardist) and most Shadowist are TEDEN. This also makes it impossible for Belgium though to go either way seeing country has both ONE and TEDEN supporters.

Re: eBelgium and Int'l Relations
@ wim vercauteren: according to you ebelgium has to accept every request to citizenship, now that would be just plain stupid.
this is what i understand of what you just said.
Beside the neutrality of our nation has little to do with citizenship requests.

Accepting everybody will just get us PTO'ed.
Do you want to loose the country to foreigners?

this! long live strict immigration!

Wim, denying or granting citizenship has nothing to do with neutrality.
Neutrality is at state's level and involves political decisions for the whole country, immigration is on a personal basis' level (but accepting anyone could in the end endanger the whole country).

Re: eBelgium and Int'l Relations
We have a lot of foreigners, but most of them are willing to be integrated in the eBelgian community and working in the interest of eBelgium.
It's an eGame, what matters is eNationality, not RL nationality. Look at the Pakistan or North Korea for instance, there are much RL people there
