oh and I can only see his rank 'banned', this actually doesn't mean anything. A person can have that rank without being banned at all. So, I have no idea if he currently is or isn't banned, neither do I know when it exactly ends.

He should be unbanned on the 13th. Today is the 15th. Please unban him now.

He looks indeed unbanned as his conduct bar is almost full

conduct bar and the rank 'banned' (that is similar as the rank 'Forum Bad-a**' that Olv007 currently have) are indicators set by the admin's and are not always directly related to a person being banned or not.
When a person is banned there are 2 options
*) Ban him
*) Ban him for a certain time period

With the exception of some unregistered 'buy viagra here'-posters or someone being permabanned (not happened before as I know), the second option is always used. Therefore, the moment that shad needs to be unbanned, he will be, without any interaction necessary from the admins.
Afterwards the admins will adjust the indicators that all forum-users can see: conduct bar and the rank

Anyway Shad's having a great time in Asia so I guess we won't see him around for some weeks. ^^
