Do you think that it is okay to use words such as "f**k, d**k, c**t, etc"?

Do you think that it is okay to use words such as "f**k, d**k, c**t, etc"?
I would like to see what the community thinks so we can properly communicate to the admins what our perspective (as a whole) truly is.

Re: Using Bad Words Poll
it is in my opinion al about context and the way it is presented
example: 'I had a f*** good exam" => acceptable
example: 'you are a complete f***' => not acceptable
also sometimes even the words are rather rude, while the context would allow for it (cause it is not used in a way to try to insult some people here), the use of spoiler tags that conceal them could then be a good solution
(PS: this is my personal opinion)

I am surprised that 11 people voted in one hour time. Never had such fast response on a poll making the result of it very doubtful.

Re: Using Bad Words Poll
Well, I think it's pretty clear what the majority wants, we are old enough to deal with these words. But obviously, to keep things civil, they should be used at a minimum scale.
And Im sorry, I think I messed up the poll.
It should be:
"Maybe. If it is NOT used to insult people."
instead of "Maybe if it is used to insult people."

Re: Using Bad Words Poll
word like that will obviously get censored.
but should be fine to use in non insulting way.
Every now and then, people come up with new words. It's the admins job to keep the censoring list updated.

Re: Using Bad Words Poll
I voted no, mostly because I agree with Boklevski about this. However, if there were room on this poll to add comments, I would say that, while I think bad language is unnecessary, I am not about to get bent out of shape by it, especially if it is not even spelled out, as is often the case here. I do think there are much better ways to express yourself, and I do think insults are unacceptable. Unfortunately, one man's insult is another's joke. It is hard to draw the line.

oh and I agree with Pertazeta: freedom of speech is absolute. It's a basic right for all human beings that admins on this forum are denying the players. And this makes them no better than the erep admins or certain historical figures. (make of that what you want, I would be more direct but since there is no freedom of speech on this forum I know I'd get banned if I'm direct, right innos?)

For the freedom of speech : public display of fascist symbols, making denial of the Holocauste, etc... are crimes in many countries of Europe (including Belgium).
The freedom of expression is not unlimited (or absolute as you said), and these limits are the ones there when it's offensive to others religions, ethnic groups, etc... :-/

It isn't an absolute basic right and in the process of signing up on this forum you have declared a few things that you should reread if you thinks soshadowukcs wrote:freedom of speech is absolute. It's a basic right for all human beings that admins on this forum are denying the players.

If you live in the USA, yep, if you live in Belgium, you know it isn't true. It's forbidden to write some stuff, like insults toward sexual orientation or religion. Yet you can't say that Belgium is a dictatorship. And it's pretty laid back in comparison to other countries.
For instance, the law in France is even stricter than in Belgium.

First of all, we're not talking about holocaust denial here. Most of my bans where for silly words.
Here are some of gems that got me a weeks ban
-http://www.erepbelgium.com/t2839-add-jofroi-to-png-list#55229
"kill him" (notice the "xD"-smiley behind my post)
- another 7 days ban for calling AV a "whiner"
-calling Theneka a "communist pig". And in the same post I also typed "just kidding" at the bottom
-saying that Antiko would be a "fag" if he would have access somewhere. (something everyone clearly saw a joke, except the admin. Even Antiko told me so on IRC later that evening)
- 2 warnings (in 1 posts) for saying I disagree with the decision of the SC to dismiss the AV case.
- got a ban once for posting a "niggaplz.jpg" pic (for those who don't know, it's a very popular meme)
-Saying "Herr Innos" (thats german for "Mister Innos", for those who don't know)
...
and I could go on and on like that.
Oh and I didn't said it was unlimited, I said it absolute. learn to read
And secondly, Forumotion is US based, that means we fall under the US system where it is allowed to mock religions, ethnic groups or even holocaust denial.
I'm not saying that those should be allowed, but the way the current moderator team is ruling (because that's the right word, "ruling" like dictators do), has nothing to do with the examples you used. You are ruling 1) abusive to preserve your own power and 2) like you are running a kindergarten that wants to educate it's members.

Nobody ever said that you do not have freedom of speech here. But everybody know they are consequences if you do not follow the forum rules.
Also, from wikipedia: "the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, such as on libel, slander, obscenity, incitement to commit a crime, etc."
Same limitations are applied here and are the same for everybody on this forum.

Reported for insults T~T
But anyway, yeah I was being a bit devious, but in all honesty, do we really need to have this discussion? Freedom of Speech irl vs FoS in-game is just... Yeah. However, on that note, I'd like to say that this is a game... Played largely by youth. It's slightly... Idk the word, farfetched(?) to ask them to act maturely all the time and not poke fun at others. I just do not side with the "If Player X is sensitive, we must put them in a bubble and not say nuffink" where as Player Y, I'll let that be myself, would simply laugh off a flurry of vulgar insults, poorly connected in a run-on sentence about my mother <_<
