Re: Embassy of the Netherlands (eNL)
Every nation has those kind of members. They make it interesting and that is what counts.
I do have a question, why is eNL contemplating merging with eBelgium? Wouldn't a nation want to remain independent

Because we're both very small nations, we had a union until about a year ago.
It would be beneficial for both sides.

Idd, and our communities aren't very far from each other (excepted the foreign politic maybe, but even that isn't really a problem imo).

Re: Embassy of the Netherlands (eNL)
Let's put this embassy back on the tracks!
Former ambassador Antiko agreed on me taking over his job, as did the current MoFA. I only have to await forum rights for ambassadors on both forums, but I'm ready!
Let me start with our current government. Last elections were exciting, because the support was split evenly over the two candidates Joep O (Supported by Democratisch Nederland & Geuzen Partij Nederland) & NoTie112 (Supported by The Dutch Progressives & Iron 'n Wine). Eventually Joep O won a victory by 2 votes and appointed his government:
Current affairs in the eNetherlands include a possible babyboom (as we had 30-50+ people for a few days already), making the army independant from monthly governmental changes, the upgrading of (state) companies to Q6 ones and the permanent preparing for an eventual confrontation with Poland.

Re: Embassy of the Netherlands (eNL)
Ofcourse 1000 is not a lasting number (yet), but the community is slowly growing since it's all time low of only 300 citizens. This shows in the MU memberships, but especially in the political parties (number include: 80-70-45-40 + some small parties). So we are progressing.Cotarius wrote:NoTie112 wrote:We once more have more than 1000 citizens!

Re: Embassy of the Netherlands (eNL)
Current important parties:
Iron & Wine
The traditional leading party of the Netherlands; occupied many important positions and still do. They'll usually use this experience to their benefit to attract new players and get them involved in politics. They are very military & internationally orientated.
Democratisch Nederland
Biggest party in the eNetherlands, and one of the two traditional parties (together with Iron & Wine). Strives to have everything regulated & written down by laws & elections. Main opponnent of Iron & Wine.
The Dutch Progressives
Started by three split-off's from Democratisch Nederland. Have since then grown to be nearly the biggest party in the Netherlands. Strives for less laws and bureaucracy. Can support every party (i.e their moves are not to be calculated)
Geuzen Partij Nederland
Once set up by an extreme-nationalist. Since then they have grown less dogmatic, but still strive for a more 'Dutch' community. Usually side together with Democratisch Nederland.
Congress results:
20 seats in total
Democratisch Nederland 9
The Dutch Progressives 4
Geuzen Partij Nederland 4
Iron & Wine 3

NoTie, is NL has nice to us as you make it sound or do they still want nothing to do with us. Because I know we have had differences in the past.

Re: Embassy of the Netherlands (eNL)
Differs between parties and even with different periods of time. There are a (smaller) group of people who feel we have a special relationship (being neighbours & our shared history both ingame and real life), while the majority is very pratical and sees Belgium as just another unimportant eNation and think Belgium is just a Poland/ONE lapdog. These differences are being brought up once and every while, for example when France started attacking you (Some plead for our direct help, others for just sending some fighters, other for none).Mudduck95 wrote:NoTie, is NL has nice to us as you make it sound or do they still want nothing to do with us. There have been situations in the past when the eNetherlands were thinking of attacking Belgium for their own benefit, but I'm happy to announce those thoughts are of the past.

Re: Embassy of the Netherlands (eNL)
It doesn't take much stir to cause a commotion in our sweet, peacefull nation:
Corruption in Congress
Several congressmembers have given out food & money in trade for votes during last congress elections. It is not clear who did it, but everyone is speaking their disgust of these cases. Some have even taken it up to congress and propose a law to defense our Congress to corruption, but the majority thinks it's an undesirable 'function' of eRepublik in-game mechanics and only see this as yet another rule of bureaucracy in our just cleaned up lawbooks.
AndreasIssaksson leaves GPN
A prominent eDutch citizen and 2 times for Country President, AndreasIssaksson has left his political party Geuzen Partij Nederland to become member of Iron & Wine and has left this 'explanation' for his change of parties, in which he insults his former party several times.

Well, I've nothing against corruption. It's not like 2 clickers were having any rationale for supporting people and thus that the congress was representative anyway.

West-NL is just liberated and East-NL is next. Seems like the Polish have given up Dutch terrotories after an organized attempt to liberate them.
