Re: Time to see the unity
I am sad at what I see in eBelgium these days, especially with some of the players... it's just not what I thought eBelgium was all about when I joined. Something needs to be done.

Yes Monsieur Guillotine, it's sad, why ?
There is no peace in the real life, no peace in a game (it's a strategic game sure), but if we don't have peace in our country, how can we work together ?
That's the message for this day.

Re: Time to see the unity
Voted for something to change.
Not specially about EBelgium or how it works. I am personnally against the merger for example.
I just feel there are some permanent tensions and it can't be good neither for ecitizens nor for eBelgium.

This is a loaded question, like do you support discrimination or child abuse etc.

This is just a question : unity or not.
You can see several players made the choice, we must change something.
If we know what's is this someting, we can hope find again our former unity.

Re: Time to see the unity
We can't force unity. But trying to think about the common (Belgian) interest is a high form of unity that we can certainly (continue to) achieve. The quality of the debate depends on whether we are able to think for the common good and leave our personal squabbles aside. If we continue to achieve a strong country, unity follows 'automagically' (as long as we don't forget about the essentials )

It is still a loaded question.
Is wanting change, I do not know, or even impossible as a condition that equates to the desire for disunity? Also the reply of wanting something to be change is not related to the concept of unity.
The question should be and with the following possible replies.
"Are you happy with the current political landscape and atmosphere?"
-Yes, I support it in its entirety.
-Yes, but I want minor changes.
-I am neutral
-No, I think we need major changes.
-I do not know

Unity is a mysterious and powerful device, whose mystery is only exceeded by its power.

Re: Time to see the unity
Can we stop this constant bickering?
These constant discussions between the two sides are getting pointless and repetitious. Both sides are just bashing each other, misinterpreting what the other side says and it goes on in every topic.
I am not pointing fingers to anybody most people here are part of it (I don't say I am not guilty myself) but it really has to stop people it's just getting destructive for the country

Re: Time to see the unity
Elynea,
Great idea to start and I voted for unity and yes it maybe is just a dream that we reach it but when you don't dream you don't live.
And you have to start somewhere and I'm happy to see that a lot people think the same way.
So please let you hear more because now only negative sounds are heard and I think they are only a small part saying what is in the minds of the eBelgiums. So pick up eBelgium and make it a brighter world.

Re: Time to see the unity
it's difficult to make a positive post here, because always the same persons are destroying the purpose of it.
Now, if it doesn't change, you will see some persons who work a lot for the unity leave the country.
Unity or division. Everyone must to work.

Re: Time to see the unity
Actually there is a problem with the unity. I'm in favor of it it's nice and all in theory.
But the problem is that in practice, you've different that have different opinions. And you an argue as much as you want, they might keep their different stance. Then the only solution is to proceed to a vote, or to stop.
It's not about misinterpretating what the other say, it's just that you can't agree with him. It's politics, everything isn't black or white and 2 people with complete different stance could be both right. This is the current problem of eBelgium. We've two different ideology that "fight each other". To have unity we would have to make half of the population to deny his own ideology. This can't happen.
However, we could make the debates more quiet ^^.

Re: Time to see the unity
Unity doasn't have to be equality in thoughts.
This is about eBelgium and common sense there can be unity in and to be more positive.

Re: Time to see the unity
In my opinion, most countries have 2/3 splits in which individuals from both "sides" argue and bicker over things which bickering is not needed but sometimes it is needed, a split, or at least a challenge to any current administration is nearly always a good thing. It keeps the president on his toes along with his Cabinet. It allows for improvement and advancement as different factions forward different ideas in order to sway the electorate.
Belgium, from what I can see, needs to keep focus on the challenges at hand rather than the personal hatreds some people may have developed over years of different opinions and views. Arguing over the most effective military system, or how best to run the Finance department are all things which can only benefit Belgium and her interests so long as the opposing side are willing to step up and take on what they propose. Sitting back and making outlandish claims about how "bad a government" is while offering no real alternative are not who you want in a position of power when it comes down to it.
I may be new to eBelgium but I plan on coming here and giving it my all for Belgium just like I did when I first joined eIreland.
I may be completely wrong here but in the last two days I have seen some needless infighting which I felt I had to address in some shape or manner.

Re: Time to see the unity
As I see it, eBelgium historically has had people with strong personalities who were passionate about their vision for our country. It is almost inevitable, and as mentioned above, even desirable, that there be opposing opinions. The problems lies in the fact that these arguments often devolve into personality conflicts rather than debates on the issues. Perhaps what is needed here is not so much unity (which tends to be interpreted as agreement) as mutual respect. We can disagree without being disagreeable.
