Post by Glenn Wauters 2011-06-03, 00:50

I would like the admins to stop closing topics, a habbit that never regulary occured untill now
I agree you closed the one France NE proposition as it was a troll fest, but the party gold one?

I know you admins and mods decide in group whether to give punishments, bans and close topics, so please look after this

For communication with admins, you can use this forum :
http://www.erepbelgium.com/f75-forum-decorum

About Party Gold, the debate thread was about what to do with what was the party gold.
A proposal have been raised, voted, and accepted.

The eBelgium congress officially accept the gold that the admins transferred from the former party accounts to the state accounts. This gold is now a part of the national reserve and is not longer earmarked as 'the party-gold' that needs a special allocation. In our national reserve their will be no difference made between the gold coming from that and from other sources.

There is no more "party gold" and the thread about the use of the party gold now became obsolete.

As you, i'm again closing too many threads and i'm careful with that... Thanks for your remark.

(thread moved to forum decorum)

< shadowukcs> http://www.erepbelgium.com/t3432-stop-closing-topics#65857
< shadowukcs> agreed with Glenn_Wauters btw
< shadowukcs> thread should only be closed when it's turning into a s***
< shadowukcs> othewise they can always ben used later on when new developements arrise.
<&ThomasRED[BE]AFK> i agree with you and him as i said
<&ThomasRED[BE]AFK> but here there is no more party gold
<&ThomasRED[BE]AFK> its obsolete
< Glenn_Wauters> but why are there a bizzillion other topics still open?
<&ThomasRED[BE]AFK> what can be done is a new debate thread to lauch a proposal to cancel the motion to not talk anymore of party gold

for the others topics, it's because admins didnt close them... because they thought it was useless, because they just didnt did it, because they didnt thought to do it, because they didnt feel there was a need to...

each situation is different, each admin have his own sensibility even if we try to follow the same "code".

i'm the one who closed the thread in first place, and i think i'm also the one who is careful the most about closing thread, because i didnt appreciate before when so many threads were closed, not because debates became obsolete after a proposal, but because it was ending the debate... In this case the debate is close as the motion passed and there is no more party gold. We can't debate of it. :-/ I hope i replied to your concerns.

I only respect this, but i will re open the thread if the motion is respected in the messages (and because i feel like we have better things to do now that arguing about a thread related to an obsolete subject)... ;-)

After 3 months of no activity, the thread should be locked and taken to an archive section on the forum, the post is still there, its still readable but you can't reply. Its more for historical reasons. You could do the same with Congress threads, after 6 months it can be released to the public.

I'm against using an archive section. Locking is more then enough. If you use an archive for every part of the forum, you'll double the amount of forums, else it just disappears to the bottom of the list or the next page, which is more then enough imo...
